This ring was made in Europe circa 1760 and is in very good, antique condition. The gemstones do not show any signs of wear.

The “Giardinetti” or “Little garden” rings appeared at the very end of the 17th century but were favoured by aristocratic women during the 18th century and until the beginning of the 20th century.

The floral elements of the rings symbolise the beauty of life, while the urn below represents death.

This wonderful representation of the two elements together shows how closely life and death are linked, which is why this ring can be seen as both a Giardinetti and a Memento Mori/ Mourning ring.
